R O O T S

ROOTS is a dynamic team of volunteers who strive to make the natural environment an essential part of their community

 

ROOTS is founded by environmental entrepreneur and climate change activist David Saddington

 

Starting in 2005 David pioneered the growth of community eco gardens in the UK and started his own initaitve at his Secondary School in North East England

 

Over the subsequent years David continued to develop and expand his eco garden enterprise at Blakeston School and at other sites in Northern England. He exhibited his work at national conferences and received awards and recognition for innovative garden design and commendation for his community initiative

 

In 2008 David was selected to be a Three Dot Dash Global Teen Leader; with the help of this organisation he expanded his social enterpise and partnered with Urban Farming USA

 

David's most recent garden project was at Durham University where he led a team of keen student volunteers to transform the grounds of St Mary's College from grass to garden in a 48 hour 'Ground Force' event

 

David is always looking to grow the work of ROOTS and promote similar environmental initiatives. He is also passionate about communicating action on climate change and has been selected to be a speaker at  TEDxTeen at the O2 in London
